The blocks in the area are all based on a rectangular grid structure. They do not take the form of the land into account. The design of the community centre should enhance the contours and structure of the land.

The shape of the land was very interesting. I analysed the way the land forms a shelter around the site. The roads lead down the hill to the site.

Final Model- Gallery Space

The facade fits into the surrounding buildings on the street. The horizontal lines and the evenly punctuated windows are used in a more modern style. The skylights on the roof are defined by the central scultural glass element that trancends from roof level through to the ground floor. This brings natural light into the gallery.

Multiple levels link to each other through theses glass walls. The geometrical elements intertwine creating intricate passageways for the visitor to journey through.

The play between light and dark is strong in the design. The underground rooms are cold and poorly lit whereas the upper levels are well lit from windows and the glass courtyard.

Solid elements contrast to the glass centre. These are the thick column that extends from the ground level to the roof , the billboard as you enter and the dividing structure between these elements.

This office designed for Zhang Ying shows the transitional journey of women in China in relation to their power throughout history. As an independant and highly successful women Zhang Yin represents the modern empowered women. The first space represents the lack of control and rights. It gives the feeling of insignificance to the viewer. The divided stairs represent her decisions and struggles. The lights become lighter as the viewer continues along the passage. At the end of the way they can see where they started through the gap in the stairs.

Carlos Slim's success has been a result of a number of different business achievements and foundations. Therefore his office was designed as a reflection of the roots of his power. Various elements support the structure yet from the outside it appears to be a simple yet strong concrete box. Also a variety of coloured lights are used to show this.

Carlos Slim's office is divided into two spaces. In the top space he may meet with clients. This room is fairly basic, yet underneath the supports and variation are shown.

This article discusses the empowerment of women in China in history, particularly analysing the career of Zang Yin. The writer explores the changing power in society from when “Women had no rights, existing only to have babies and please men, the richer forced to hobble and disfigure themselves by binding their feet from birth to affirm their essential purpose - decorative daintiness” to today where Zang Yin has proven that China has shed this concept by becoming the richest person in China worth $3.4bn. Not only is she the richest person in China but “the tycoon is the world's richest self-made woman, having built China's largest paper recycling business, Nine Dragons Paper, which was floated on the Hong Kong stock market just six months ago”. Experiment 2: Final Design

Charles Darwin's room is based upon his idea of human evolution towards perfection. Therefore I revolved the room around a series of three growing cubes. Two ramps divide the room into two levels. The room is fairly dark with dominant textured feature wall that continues to the ceiling. The texture used transends the idea of the cube.

Florence Nightingale's space consists of a ramp that twists around in a series of narrow corridors with blue lighting that leads to the open outdoor space where she can connect with god. The small slits in the walls exposing small views of outside this leads the client around to the next room. The textured walls add a humanistic atmosphere to the space.

This is the hallway where the two clients meet. The high ceiling is lit by bright coloured lights relates to both Darwin and Nightingale's religious beliefs.
